Let me start out by saying that it felt good to get that monkey off my back! My previous pick of the Los Angeles Angels covering the spread of +1.5 was easily reached in their 9-3 rubber match victory against the Baltimore Orioles. Let's stay in the American League for today's pick!

Over/Under: 9.5

Tonight the Boston Red Sox are throwing Jon Lester (10-4, 3.31 ERA) while the Kansas City Royals will try to counter with Kyle Davies (1-9, 7.32 ERA). Boston's Lester will be making his first start since coming off his stint on the DL with a strain near his shoulder on his throwing arm. It has been reported that his rehab went completely pain-free and look for him to continue his dominance against the Royals (4-1, 1.22 ERA). The Royals have had a little hot streak to celebrate by winning 4 of their last 5 games including their game-winning hit on Sunday. But don't look for the Red Sox to be put in a close game position. Davies has struggled in commanding his pitches and more than likely won't last 6 innings. Along with Davies lack of command, match that up with the extremely hot bats of the Red Sox and you can just count on tallying another loss to Davies 1-9 record!
